Cape Cod--Day 3

Monday was Eyal's last day on the Cape. He started the day with some stretching, and Kai was happy to join in! After dropping Eyal off at the bus station, Keith, Kai and I met up with our friends Duclos and Kate for a (very) hot stroll by the river. In the afternoon, Kai and I went with Baba and Tata to the bay beach, where Kai enjoyed playing in the sand, looking at his first crab, and putting sand in Tata's bathing suit. We loved swimming in the warm water (Kai was not too into the water part). In the evening Kai stayed with Baba and Tata, and Keith and I went out to dinner in Wellfleet, where Keith claims to have had the best raw oysters (I say yuck!). It was a great vacation and we can't wait to go back! soon!

Cape Cod--Day 2 (Father's Day)

Father's day on Cape Cod began with a homemade delicious breakfast of french toast and quiche. Once we were nice and full, Keith, Kai and I rented bikes and went for a 2 hour bike ride on the gorgeous trails. We passed some beaches, and stopped and one to catch our breath and take in the beautiful sights. Kai, surprisingly, didn't try to take his helmet off too much, and seemed to enjoy the ride (even falling asleep for a bit!). After a nap and some down time, we all went out to dinner and drinks! It was a great day...

Cape Cod--Day 1

Our trip to Cape Cod was relaxing and fun. We drove up Friday night, so we had all of Saturday to enjoy... We started it with breakfast by the pool, where Kai had his first bite of bacon and loved it. Kai has been a little obsessed with brooms, and started sweeping the pool grounds with a broom he found. After breakfast we headed to the pool. Since Kai is still afraid of the pool, he walked into the baby pool and played for a bit standing up, as well as sitting on the edge, dipping his feet in. Keith, Gilat and Eyal enjoyed some good old splashing fun in the adult pool while Tata and Baba took Kai for a walk around the pools. We then enjoyed A LOT of grilled food for dinner.

Day at Van Saun Park

Today Kai and I spent the afternoon at Van Saun Zoo and Park. We went into the bird area where we fed the birds from a food stick. I have to say it was a little scary. The birds seemed to have no fear, and were landing all over me, my backpack, and our feet. But it was really exciting too. Kai was nervous, but was definitely interested! After seeing all the animals, we moved on to the playground area, where Kai mostly played in the sand. After a really whiny ride, we got some "ice cream" (sorbet), and then another (even whinier) ride home. The whines did not subside until I gave up and put on a video. Man, we both need showers BAD.

Gilat's 35th Birthday

On Sunday our families came over to celebrate my birthday :) The day started with Keith making me homemade coffee cake muffins which were amazing! Later in the afternoon, everyone came and contributed food and Keith BBQ'd and it was all delicious! Cate and Wally brought the dog they are doggie-sitting for the summer, and Kai loved him. The dog was lucky enough to be deaf so he couldn't hear Kai's shrieks of joy! Kai also peed on the potty once (while eating cookies)!! It was truly a great day for me--thanks to everyone!!

Wyckoff Day

On Saturday our family visited Wyckoff Day, which was a fair held at the Wyckoff YMCA (where Kai goes to daycare). Many of the rides were for older kids, but Kai enjoyed some things... He was in construction vehicle heaven when he saw the tractors and truck he could climb on (he has grease all over his clothes to prove it). He was also able to get on the little choo choo train that went around the grass area. He and Keith had a hotdog, and we all had water ice to cool us down, as it was very very hot!
