First Hannukah candle

First off, yes--I know I have not updated the blog since July. I missed almost the whole summer, Kai's birthday and Thanksgiving to name a few occasions. But alas, it's too late to go back 4 months, so I'm starting fresh with the first candle of Hannukah!
I couldn't find our regular hannukah candles, so we had to light the mini hannukia (=menorah) instead of the normal one we use. Kai was very excited about the candles, and said "birthday candles!" He then helped me sing a Hannukah song, faking his way through it (it was hilarious because he doesn't know this song at all), and in the end--what's a Hannukah celebration without Sufganiyot (=jelly donuts)?? Yummy!

Hershey Park

This past weekend we drove to Hershey Park. It was Kai's first amusement park and he loved it, despite it being insanely hot! He was not as scared of things as we thought he might be, and even got over his fear of the carousel (which he always loves, but never sits on a horse, always on the bench). We spent Saturday with Keith's Aunt Chris and her family, and had a great time with them (and their beautiful dog Kayla). On Sunday we only had a 20 min ride to the park (and a loooong ride home after). We had a great time watching Kai enjoy the activities!

4th of July Weekend 2010

Fourth of July in Riverton was awesome! We enjoyed the parade (some of us from on top of Daddy's shoulders), then went to the park for some more activities... petting zoo, horse and buggy ride, playground and snow cone. After Kai's nap we went to watch the raft race on the river, and then headed to a big BBQ, where there was good food, good people, and even some live music. When it got dark we all enjoyed Chris' fireworks in the church parking lot. Even Kai stayed up for the occasion and loved it!

Cape Cod--Day 3

Monday was Eyal's last day on the Cape. He started the day with some stretching, and Kai was happy to join in! After dropping Eyal off at the bus station, Keith, Kai and I met up with our friends Duclos and Kate for a (very) hot stroll by the river. In the afternoon, Kai and I went with Baba and Tata to the bay beach, where Kai enjoyed playing in the sand, looking at his first crab, and putting sand in Tata's bathing suit. We loved swimming in the warm water (Kai was not too into the water part). In the evening Kai stayed with Baba and Tata, and Keith and I went out to dinner in Wellfleet, where Keith claims to have had the best raw oysters (I say yuck!). It was a great vacation and we can't wait to go back! soon!

Cape Cod--Day 2 (Father's Day)

Father's day on Cape Cod began with a homemade delicious breakfast of french toast and quiche. Once we were nice and full, Keith, Kai and I rented bikes and went for a 2 hour bike ride on the gorgeous trails. We passed some beaches, and stopped and one to catch our breath and take in the beautiful sights. Kai, surprisingly, didn't try to take his helmet off too much, and seemed to enjoy the ride (even falling asleep for a bit!). After a nap and some down time, we all went out to dinner and drinks! It was a great day...

Cape Cod--Day 1

Our trip to Cape Cod was relaxing and fun. We drove up Friday night, so we had all of Saturday to enjoy... We started it with breakfast by the pool, where Kai had his first bite of bacon and loved it. Kai has been a little obsessed with brooms, and started sweeping the pool grounds with a broom he found. After breakfast we headed to the pool. Since Kai is still afraid of the pool, he walked into the baby pool and played for a bit standing up, as well as sitting on the edge, dipping his feet in. Keith, Gilat and Eyal enjoyed some good old splashing fun in the adult pool while Tata and Baba took Kai for a walk around the pools. We then enjoyed A LOT of grilled food for dinner.

Day at Van Saun Park

Today Kai and I spent the afternoon at Van Saun Zoo and Park. We went into the bird area where we fed the birds from a food stick. I have to say it was a little scary. The birds seemed to have no fear, and were landing all over me, my backpack, and our feet. But it was really exciting too. Kai was nervous, but was definitely interested! After seeing all the animals, we moved on to the playground area, where Kai mostly played in the sand. After a really whiny ride, we got some "ice cream" (sorbet), and then another (even whinier) ride home. The whines did not subside until I gave up and put on a video. Man, we both need showers BAD.
